Welcome to the Science & Technology Diplomatic Circle Boston!

Thank you for supporting the Science & Technology Diplomatic Circle Boston (S&TDC Boston), as part of the Consul Corps of Boston.

The Science & Technology Diplomatic Circle (S&TDC) Boston is an association of members from 65+ diplomatic missions and affiliated organizations in the Boston area. Most members are consular heads, counselors, or officers dealing with Science & Technology and - in a broader sense - with Education and Innovation. The objective of the S&TDC is to offer a platform for activities, seminars and visits interacting with leaders and officials of the government, academia and private sector of Massachusetts. The primary focus is science & technology. The S&TDC provides many opportunities for networking and exchange of information.

In a team effort among the consular colleagues in the Greater Boston area, we focus on visits and encounters to explore the political, academic and private sector of Massachusetts, which shapes the innovation ecosystem. Our mission is to discover new bonds with greater Boston and connect back to our countries in the field of science & technology.

Brief History
The Science & Technology Diplomatic Circle has a very deep-rooted tradition of networking with key people from the government, academia and the private sector. As part of the Consular Corps, S&TDC was founded by Dr. Felix Moesner at the end of 2013, based on his experience in co-chairing the S&TDC Tokyo for 5 years. The motivation was to get immersed into the world-class academic and innovation landscape of Boston and to create a platform for informal exchanges among the Consulates. The first S&TDC coordination meeting was held on February 7, 2014 at swissnex Boston, followed by the first visit – to the Fraunhofer USA Center for Manufacturing Innovation on March 5, 2014, organized by Mathias Kruse, Deputy Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany.
